Hiking and cleaning trash
One of the options for Outdoorsman is: 5. Participate in an outdoor conservation project with your Webelos den or a Boy Scout troop. We chose to do this by hiking in one of the local favorite wilderness places and picking up trash. We also discussed the types of trees, bushes, and bugs we found. The boys were not too interested in the types of trees (the parents were!) but they loved all of the spiders we found! By the end, each boy had a full trash bag, had learned a lot about spiders, and had made a significant dent in the trash at a favorite place to hike.
