Our Pack and Troop hold an annual Christmas Holiday Pack and Troop combined meeting. We have a lot of fun traditions that work really well for both the pack and the troop and combine service with fun!
The meeting starts with music from the pack and troop. This started last year when we discovered that playing in a scout band was a Bear cub elective. The band is growing each year! This year we played 4 songs and had a great time!
Each family brings baked goods to share, which means a lot of great cookies. We are an inclusive Pack and Troop and always have an allergy friendly table. Our main allergy is gluten although we also have some nut-free and we try to keep all of them separated carefully to keep the kids (and adults!) safe.
After the pack achievements, we get together for a “snowball” fight. The “snowballs” are brand new pairs of socks, balled up. We have a great time throwing them at each other, with the pack competing against the troop. The winner is the side with the fewest socks on it at the end of the time. The real winners are the local shelters, especially for the kids who receive all of our brand new socks after the pack meeting! We take them to the local shelters and give them to the kids there.
The meeting usually ends with a game brought by the troop. This year it was the bubble wrap contest, where each den competed to pop a HUGE sheet of bubble wrap as quickly as possible. Loud and fun!
