Summary
Walking to Webelos is a session aimed to help new Webelos scouts work towards the requirements of earning their Webelos patch. This is day 2 of our Aiming for Arrow activities at day camp for 2013. The opening exercises are shared between Walking to Webelos and Aiming for Arrow.
Supplies
- Correct items for camping (2-Backpacks, 2-tents, 2-long yellow ropes, 2-shovels, 2-tarps, 4-stakes), Incorrect (use a variety of incorrect items, we used a helmet, a brick, and a bunch of other items)
- Rope
- Whipping material

Opening exercises: Know your states jokes (in Walking to Webelos Day 2)
Arrow of Light Exercises
Outdoorsman Requirement 1: Show the camping gear you will use. Show the right way to pack and carry it.
- Camping Gear Exercise: Set out backpacks and all gear. Have boys select proper gear for camping and put in backpack.
- Do this in pairs
Tent Exercise: Have boys take gear from above and use tarp, rope, and stakes to set up a temporary shelter. First team to finish wins.
Give the boys 3 foot section of ropes and show them how to whip the ends. Talk about fusing the ends.
Demonstrate to the boys how to tie the following knots and have them practice each.
- Square Knot
- Bowline
- Clove Hitch
- Two half hitches
- Taut Line Hitch
Analysis (Start/Stop/Continue)
- Start: It worked well.
- Stop: Nothing to stop. It went well.
- Continue: Continue as planned
